Reader’s Annotation: As a Seuss classic, this story is one of his most timeless. I recently read this again to compare where it stands with contemporary children's literature. The poetic lines are empowering, no matter who the reader is. It is mostly the message that makes this children's picture book so special. However, the outlandish illustrations are a tool in engaging young readers as they are given control over the direction that their little lives will take.
