Reader’s Annotation: Petunia represent a no-it-all. This is a good story for young ones who think they know just about everything! The lesson does not spare any details, however, so be prepared for a somewhat violent ending.
Author/Illustrator: Roger Duvoisin
Age: 3 - 7
genre/subject: children's literature, picture book
Plot Summary: Petunia finds a book and recalls that the farmer said "he who owns books and loves then is wise." She carries around the book and loves it, suddenly all the other animals regarded her as wise. However, Petunia was only proud, not wise. She started giving misguided advice to everyone! Her advice resulted in disaster, rather morbid disaster.
Evaluation: The story is a little graphic and sad for the recommended age.
